Internationaler Frauentag der Flüchtlingsfrauen in Berlin Brandenburg Potsdam
15. 03. 2008
The 8th of March is the International Women’s Day and women have a right to know their legal as well as their human rights.
At that day, the whole word acknowledges the existence of women and is concerned about their conditions as women.
Women at the first place take the opportunity to raise their voices. But one has to acknowledge that, there is always women with certain position who can take that opportunity. There are a big number of women who remain voiceless.
This for many reasons:
The oppression from the society, state, tradition, community
The oppression from men
The oppression from other women
Women in Germany specifically in Berlin-Brandenburg are busy preparing activities of the women week. As usual this year a specific issue will be addressed; this for all women, forgetting that among women living in Berlin-Brandenburg, there are many different status.
Women asylum seekers for example are living under exceptional laws and in exceptional conditions; so they cannot be addressed under a general topic.
Women In Exile, a group of refugee women, chooses to focus on issues concerning women asylum seekers. We invite every other woman who believe in community empowerment and grass roots’ mobilisation to join us and make the voiceless voice out.
Help the above mentioned group of women to overcome hindrances which have resulted from their being uprooted from their former life’s and homes to be emancipated into thriving.
From the minute the women are forced to leave their former homes and live regardless of whatever reasons, they endeavour on survival for themselves and their families especially children. They are focused so much on survival that it becomes a hazard to further creative development.
After freeing from their homes and arriving in the host countries they find that the laws governing their stay are focused on survival. It is a fact that their stay is considered temporarily.
After, few of them are lucky to get a certain kind of permission to work, they take the jobs whatever offered regardless of their educational level or professions just to survive. Language barrier is only one of the factors contributing to this situation.
